Our 4th grade had a great field trip to the Winnemucca Municipal Airport. They learned from three local pilots, got to sit in the cockpits of single engine GA planes, and asked questions that related to the novel they are studying, Hatchet.
Dear Grammar School Parents,
We hope this message finds you well. This morning, we experienced a situation that required swift action to ensure the safety of our students. A few minutes before recess break, a staff member heard what they believed could have been gunshots within the neighborhood. Given the unknown of the situation, staff implemented an immediate lockout drill and law enforcement was contacted.
The Winnemucca PD responded promptly, and after a thorough investigation, confirmed that the sound was actually a backfire from a nearby car.
We appreciate the quick response of our staff and the Winnemucca PD in ensuring that our students remained safe throughout the incident. Please take a moment to talk to your child and commend them for the amazing job they did during the lockout! They behaved calmly and did exactly as we had practiced in previous drills.
