Dear Parents,

This is Kelly Novi, Principal of WJHS providing an update for all students and families as we continue to learn and change plans on how we provide a meaningful education to all students.

By the end of today, you should have received a phone call from your child’s homeroom teacher as well as a follow up email. If you have not it means we do not have the correct phone numbers or email addresses in the system. When this happens, we are emailing the student, yet can use the help to spread the word to those who may not have heard from us.

We have asked teachers to begin grading and entering in grades for the work assigned the past two weeks. As such, you may begin to see grades including 0’s populate. Packets can be picked up or dropped off between 8:00 and 3:00 this week or when we return April 6th. This work will still be accepted the week of April 6th without penalty. We are doing this now so work can be completed and we do not pile on come April 6th when new lessons and assignments will be provided.

Our staff are currently working on preparing, filming and putting lessons and assignments together for April 6th. For those with online access these will be accessible through Google Classroom/Canvas or through Zoom classes that are live. Many families have expressed that even though they have internet they have a preference for paper assignments, do not worry these will be available beginning April 6th for any students. More information will be coming as to how to access the instruction for learning.

For those without internet, packets and flash drives will be available after 12:00pm noon on Monday April 6th. We need some time in the morning as teachers will be recording instruction and we will create flash drives for all students without internet access. To log into Chromebooks without internet at home, students will need to bring devices in or near the school and log on once to receive the necessary update. The flash drives will contain videos of the teacher’s instruction to assist students in completing their assignments and continuing to learn.

For all students, there will be time every day they can communicate through email, Zoom, Classrooms or over the phone to receive assistance. As we finalize all times this week we will send that information out.

The office is open from 8-3 through this Friday, closed next week for Spring Break and will update hours for the week of April 6th.

Thanks,

WJHS Staff
