Partnerships
Humboldt County School District is deeply grateful for the strong partnerships that help us support the whole child and build brighter futures for our students. Organizations like The Mining Foundation and Communities in Schools play an essential role by providing critical resources, mentorship, and opportunities that go beyond the classroom. Whether it's funding innovative programs, supporting student wellness, or helping families access vital services, these partnerships reflect the power of community working together for student success. As our network of partners continues to grow, so does the impact we can make—together.

Boys and Girls Club of Winnemucca:
The Humboldt County School District is proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Club of Winnemucca, offering satellite club programs at each elementary school as well as at the main club location. Through this collaboration, HCSD ensures safe and reliable bussing for students to our local Boys & Girls Club sites each day. The club provides a safe, nurturing environment where students benefit from academic support, physical activities, and social development opportunities until parents arrive for pickup. Together, we are committed to fostering student success and well-being both in and out of the classroom.

Humboldt County School District is proud to partner with Nevada Gold Mines (NGM), whose generous support significantly enhances the educational experience for our students. Through their meaningful contributions, NGM has enriched our school environments, notably funding new trees to beautify and enhance the landscape at Lowry High School. Their thoughtful donations of school supplies ensure all students start the year equipped and ready to learn. Additionally, NGM empowers teachers by awarding grants through a simple, effective application process, allowing educators to fund innovative classroom projects that directly benefit student learning and engagement. Their ongoing dedication helps cultivate academic excellence, community pride, and a thriving future for Humboldt County’s students.

The Winnemucca Boozefighters come through year after year with donations of a huge supply of backpacks - as seen above with Superintendent Corbitt - and winter coats just as the temperatures start to drop. Last November, members of the Boozefighters brought over 150 winter coats to be distributed across the district in support of students that may be in need of a warm coat. We are so appreciative of the ongoing generosity of the Boozefighters and the tremendous impact their donation has on the lives of hundreds of students.

Winnemucca Literacy Club donates dictionaries for all 3rd grade students - in January 2025, members of the Winnemucca Literacy Club presented 250 dictionaries to former Superintendent, Dr. Jensen, in support of Literacy for our 3rd grade students. These dictionaries were provided through a partnership with the Literacy Club and Lithium Americas.

Communities in Schools (CIS):
CIS of Northeastern Nevada partners closely with Humboldt County School District to ensure every student has the support they need to thrive. In all Winnemucca schools, CIS site coordinators build trusting relationships with students, offering one-on-one mentoring, academic tutoring, and social-emotional coaching. They connect families to essential resources—such as food assistance, health services, and counseling, and in-school programs to foster a safe, engaging learning environment. By identifying barriers early and mobilizing community volunteers and agencies, Communities in Schools empowers students and families to overcome challenges, stay engaged in school, and achieve their full potential.

Each year, the Mining Industry Foundation invests generously in Humboldt County School District—providing targeted grants that fuel academic innovation, underwrite athletic programs, and support a wide range of critical initiatives, from classroom technology upgrades to career‐exploration projects. Their funding helps purchase new lab equipment for STEM courses, furnish weight rooms and playing fields for our student‐athletes, and other educational endeavors. Beyond direct school‐based grants, the Foundation proudly serves as the host organization for the annual Teacher and Classified Staff Members of the Year banquet so we can honor our dedicated educators in style. Thanks to this partnership, HCSD students and staff enjoy enhanced learning opportunities and community recognition that would not be possible without the Foundation’s steadfast support.

HCSD deeply values our partnership with Frontier Community Coalition (FCC), an organization committed to enriching the lives of students and families throughout our community. The FCC actively engages students in meaningful community service projects, fostering empathy, leadership, and civic responsibility. They also provide critical support to families, addressing needs both within school and beyond the classroom walls. Among their most cherished events is Project Santa, a collaborative effort with Lowry High School, Communities in Schools, the Christmas Cop Toy Drive, and Les Schwab Tire Center, ensuring that every child in Winnemucca experiences the joy and warmth of the holiday season. Through their dedicated partnership, Frontier Community Coalition continually strengthens our schools and community spirit.

It is an amazing service to our community when Sagebrush Smiles comes to town and offers free dental work to our students. They are able to set up a mobile facility (in the gym at FFMS) and take care of many procedures to help our children protect their teeth and gums. If you'd like to know more about them and their mission to serve northern Nevada, please visit: https://www.sagebrushsmiles.org/

HGH supports HCSD in many ways throughout the year. Above, you can see they provided 345 sports physicals to our student athletes. Taking away some of the fees associated with sports participation is a strong influence in allowing more students to participate. We thank HGH for their continued commitment to the health and well-being of our students in Humboldt County.
