Oreos in liquid gas creates "fire-breathing" students

WJHS students in Design & Modeling classes were invited to see and learn the powers of gas from experts from Southwest Gas. Presenters taught students important things in how gas is used. Students now know the optimal required amount of oxygen for gas to burn, how carbon monoxide is created, and the different ways to be safe when the smell of gas is present. They also learned about liquid natural gas and ways it is stored, cooled, and used.

Southwest Gas sent some wonderfully engaging experts who dazzled students with many experiments as students learned the concepts. One student, we'll call him "Whatever Trevor," got up close to see how unpredictable a flame can appear! Students also got a chance to see how liquid natural gas can quickly freeze things like a rose, banana, and Oreos but after warming again, they return to their original states.

This was an exciting learning opportunity for our students! Thank you Southwest Gas!
