The Board of Trustees is committed to the education of all students appropriate to the best of their individual abilities; to a constant awareness of the concerns and desires of the whole District regarding the quality and performance of the School District, with the Board of Trustees assuming an educational leadership role. Our meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Humboldt County School District Office located at 310 E. Fourth Street. Meetings begin at 4:30 p.m. (PST).

Bruce Braginton was appointed to the School Board in January 2013 and elected to a two-year term in November 2014. His primary goal is to to serve the best educational interests of the children and the community in Humboldt County. He has worked a number of years for Newmont Mining in training, leadership development, team building and performance management. His wife is an educator. Bruce also holds certification in leadership development and as a management coach. When he has spare time, Bruce enjoys spending it with his family and traveling. Bruce has been a resident of Humboldt County since 1991.

Mrs. Bengochea is a 27 year resident of Winnemucca/ Humboldt County. She is 2003 graduate of Albert Lowry High School. She has been married to her husband Isaac for 10 years. Together they have three children. Two of her children currently attend school in Humboldt County. 

Mrs. Bengochea believes in the importance of a quality public education for every child in our community. She has a vested interest in seeing our schools be the best that they can be and firmly believes that every child in Humboldt County should have the same quality of education. It is the responsibility of the school board to oversee and ensure that those opportunities are available for every child.

 Owner of Betteridge  Janitorial and Chem-Dry of  Northern Nevada in  Winnemucca area  and franchises in Reno,
 Sparks, and Carson City
Mr. Betteridge graduated from Lowry High School in 1976. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus of Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years and attended Brigham Young University for two years before transferring to the Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institution. He worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in the Atomic Vapor Laser Isotope System program. He later worked on YAG (Yittrium Aluminum Garnet) Diode Pumped lasers before deciding to move to  Winnemucca to begin his own business. Mr. Betteridge has two sons who have graduated from Lowry High School and a daughter who is currently attending. “Because of my background, my education path has been different, and I believe other students may feel the same way.” He continued, “I believe the goals that we have as a board are good and need constant work to make sure we are putting our kids first.” Mr. Betteridge’s goals during his tenure as a school district trustee are to help launch a comprehensive Career Technical Education (CTE) program for those students who will seek a technical rather than academic post-high school education. He also would like to see every student in Humboldt County graduate from high school. He  wishes to ensure a safe school environment for students, as well as give students the chance to participate in sports, music and extra- curricular activities. “I appreciate all the employees of the Humboldt County school system; they are all working hard and try to do the best they can under difficult circumstances.”

Mrs. Deputy is a thirty year resident of Humboldt County and a thirty-three year resident of Nevada. She has been a hunter education instructor for sixteen years as well as a Humboldt County 4-H leader for seventeen years. Her four children attended schools in Orovada, Paradise Valley and Winnemucca. She and her husband, Dennis, enjoy the company of their three grandchildren ages 8, 4 and 2, as well as spending time outdoors.

Mr. Entwistle is a born and raised resident of northern Nevada.  He has lived in Sparks, Fallon, Fernley and now Winnemucca (for the last eight years).  He graduated from Doane University in Crete, NE, with a BA degree in Physical Education with emphasis in Sports Management.  He has managed and owned the COUNTRY Financial Office in Winnemucca for the last eight years. Chris and his wife (Erin) have two young children in the Humboldt County School System.  As a business owner, he believes it is important to give back to the community that supports his business and affords them a way of life!  As a parent Chris believes it is our responsibility to give our children every opportunity feasible to become the best them that they can be. He joined the school board because he wanted to help ensure that our (Humboldt County) children have the best teachers, the best administrators, and the best opportunities to help them on their path to becoming the best them that they can be!

In addition to Dr. Carrie Stringham's work as a professor, she has held numerous director level leadership positions in multiple industries including healthcare and mining. Carrie earned a doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership, a masters degree with a Human Resource emphasis, and two undergraduate degrees. She is Senior Professional in Human Resources SPHR Certified and Society for Human Resource Management SHRM-SCP Certified. Carrie is an avid supporter of education and lifelong learning. She has been a Humboldt County resident since 2005 and lives in Winnemucca with her husband and daughter.
